What to Practice This Month
July 2025
Happy July!!!! I highly encourage you to take your skates on vacation this summer! That’s one of the best things about skating - you can do it pretty much anywhere ☀️
Speaking of Summer, my Summer Roller Skating Essentials Course is here for a $19.99 one-time payment (yep, not a membership)!!! You can preview and get access to the course right here! This is a 7-day (a little less than 10 minutes per day), beginner-friendly course that you can do at your own pace.
If you’re new here, hello! My name is Nicole Fiore and I am a 4-time World Champion artistic roller skater, coach, and choreographer. I have been skating for my entire life and teaching for about 15 years. I created the Roll With Me Membership in 2020 and have been growing it ever since. It now has hundreds of videos to learn from, for all levels, from anywhere in the world…
Because there are so many videos to choose from, each month I give you a few things to focus on to help guide your practice! If you don’t have access already, you can get a membership at ThatNicoleFiore.com or on my YouTube Channel. Although both Memberships contain the same content, they are separate. With the Site Membership, everything is displayed on its own page and you can track your progress throughout each section! You can check out all of the drills here, skills here, and choreography here! Keep reading to see what I recommend for this month…Happy Skating ♥️
Drill: Body Line Control
I would like you to start with the Body Line Control Drill. The drills videos are fairly short so I encourage you to do them at least once a week. There are a bunch to choose from: both on and off-skates. Let me explain body line control a bit…when skating, we have to think about counterweight. For example, when we stretch a leg out or lift a leg up, other parts of the body have to balance that out. Skates are heavy! We have to use our arms, our core, just about every part of our body to keep ourselves stable and in place while quite literally not being in place because we're on wheels!! Don’t worry, I’m here to help!
Video length: 16 minutes, 43 seconds

Skill: Heel-Toe Spin
Our skill this month is going to be our Heel-Toe Spin. If you are not comfortable spinning yet, I would like you to start with the Two-Foot Spin before getting to the heel-toe (there’s a skills video for that too). When you do a regular two-foot spin, you leave all of the wheels on the floor. We can only complete one to two times around comfortably while leaving all the wheels on the floor like this. To gain more momentum and continue spinning without needing to reset or pump, we graduate to the heel-toe spin. To add some practice to this skill and make things a bit easier, you can also check out the heel-toe manual skills video.
Please remember that you do not gain speed by winding up when starting your spin. You gain speed by bending your knees, engaging your core, and moving on from there to press your edges.
Video length: 14 minutes, 24 seconds

Choreography: Livin La Vida Loca
Reminder: Choreography is a fun way to practice. You do NOT need to be a dancer. Trust me! Our choreography this month is to Livin La Vida Loca. We do some wild, big movements in this choreography with our arms and body, but nothing too crazy with the feet (except in the Advanced Choreography, because duh!) As always, start with the Beginner/ Intermediate and then move onto the Advanced when you’re ready. This choreography will definitely help you to use that body of yours and engage your core to balance. There’s another drill (Core Mobility) that will help with all of this too.
Beginner/ Intermediate video length: 35 minutes, 7 seconds [Link: Website, YouTube]
Advanced video length: 37 minutes, 42 seconds [Link: Website, YouTube]
Workshops, Lessons & Progress:
A few tickets for July’s workshop are still available and we will be working on our Backward Skating!!! Check out the workshop options here!
Make sure you send your progress to me throughout the month and especially throughout the year. I know that recording yourself can be a little scary, but I promise you that when you look back at your videos six months, a year, five years later, you are going to be amazed at how far you've come. All of the little things add up over time!
If you would like to submit your progress for our Community Progress Videos, submit your vertical video here.
If you are practicing on Instagram, please tag me and #quadsociety! I love to see and share your progress! Lastly, don’t forget about the wonderful community on Discord. Everything is better with friends!
Please don’t hesitate to reach out and let me know if you would like more help. You can book in-person private lessons or online private lessons here!
