What to Practice This Month

August 2025

Hi! Happy August! I have put together a few videos that I would love for you to work on throughout the month in the membership. The Roll With Me membership is available at ThatNicoleFiore.com as well as on YouTube (more info below).

There are a few more ways to learn on my site that I would love for you to check out: workshops, private lessons, the Summer Roller Skating Essentials Course, and the Foundations Course. You can preview all offerings on their pages!

💕

If you’re new here, hello! My name is Nicole Fiore and I am a 4-time World Champion artistic roller skater, coach, and choreographer. I have been skating for my entire life and teaching for about 15 years. I created the Roll With Me Membership in 2020 and have been growing it ever since. It now has hundreds of videos to learn from, for all levels, from anywhere in the world…

Because there are so many videos to choose from, each month I give you a few things to focus on to help guide your practice! If you don’t have access already, you can get a membership at ThatNicoleFiore.com or on my YouTube Channel. Although both Memberships contain the same content, they are separate. With the Site Membership, everything is displayed on its own page and you can track your progress throughout each section! You can check out all of the drills here, skills here, and choreography here! Keep reading to see what I recommend for this month…Happy Skating ♥️

Drill: Static Turns

I always start the beginning of the month (and my week) with drills and this month we are starting off-skates with Static Turns. Static turns will develop control and balance for your one-foot turns before adding the weight of a roller skate.

You can also do these drills on skates when ready. The drills videos are made to be a bit shorter so that you can revisit them throughout the month. Please let me know if you have any questions or want me to take a look at your technique as you practice!

Video length: 14 minutes, 32 seconds

Skill: Traveling Turns

Those static turns will help a lot with our skill this month: traveling turns. If you are not quite ready for traveling turns that is absolutely okay…There's an entire turn section with the Outer Forward 3-Turn and Marching Turns. Those are good videos to look at on your way to Traveling Turns.

Traveling turns stay on one foot and rotate in one direction with some speed. Marching turns, on the other hand, switch feet from one turn to the next.

There is never a wrong place to start in the membership. It's kind of “choose your own adventure”. There are so many different avenues you can go down and one thing always leads to another. I love turns! If you ever have any questions or want to nerd out about your turns, I'm your girl!

Choreography: Move Your Feet

I am so excited to do this choreography because it is one of my absolute favorites! Choreography is also my secret way of making you (and myself) practice in a fun way. I think it's the best way to learn things in a not-so-serious environment. It allows us to have fun while practicing and sometimes we don't even realize that we are practicing!

We are doing “Move Your Feet” by Junior Senior. This choreography is fairly fast and it uses a bunch of different skills. In the beginner/ intermediate choreography we do a heel-toe step, some outer forward edges (kind of like session skating in a rink - which we expand into for the advanced), and an assisted one-foot turn. In the advanced choreography we have a one-foot spin into a strut walk (which is a very fun little combo), pushing, some edges (pretending like you're skating around a corner), and finally a one-foot turn called a rocker.

Friendly reminder: you don't have to do everything! Do what you can, do what you want, and make it your own. I know that’s a bit easier said than done, but that is truly what makes skating so fun! You can create and develop your own style over time. Of course you can copy what other people do, but I want you to focus on what makes you…you!

Beginner/ Intermediate video length: 32 minutes, 56 seconds [Link: Website, YouTube]

Advanced video length: 32 minutes, 25 seconds [Link: Website, YouTube]

Workshops, Lessons & Progress:

August’s workshop is sold out!!! However, September-December are still available! Check out the workshop options here!

Make sure you send your progress to me throughout the month. I know that recording yourself can be a little scary, but I promise that when you look back at your videos six months, a year, five years from now, you are going to be amazed at how far you've come. All of the little things add up over time!

If you would like to submit your progress for our Community Progress Videos, submit your vertical video here.

If you are practicing on Instagram, please tag me and #quadsociety! I love to see and share your progress! Lastly, don’t forget about the wonderful community on Discord. Everything is better with friends!

Please don’t hesitate to reach out and let me know if you would like more help. You can book in-person private lessons or online private lessons here!
