My Everyday Makeup with Links

Makeup is a fascinating subject to me! We incorporate it into our daily routines for various reasons. Some of us feel we need to wear it. Some of us simply think it’s fun!

Growing up, I only wore makeup for skating competitions. So, I really only knew stage makeup. Big thick eyeliner, lots of blush, waterproof mascara so it doesn’t run down your face when your eyes water or you sweat, and always a bright lip.

This style of makeup is meant to enhance your features to the furthest extent, even changing and shifting them to look much for mature or like a character. An 8 year old girl can turn into an 18 year old with a few key makeup tricks. It feels strange to think back to all of that now, but this carried over to my everyday makeup as I grew up. I skated at a lot of nightclubs from 18-21 and heavy makeup was my thing. It was what I knew so it’s what I did. Going to the mall? Heavy eyeliner. Meeting a friend at Starbucks? Heavy eyeliner. I don’t think this shifted completely until 2020 when I realized I didn’t need all of that. I actually looked better with light, intentional makeup.

This shift allowed me to embrace a more natural and authentic version of myself. I have learned that makeup is a tool for enhancing my features rather than masking them.

Here is a video I put together of my full everyday makeup look with all of the links below 🤍
