What to Practice This Month
March 2025
Spring is almost here (in this part of the world), the sun is shining a little bit more, and everything is just starting to feel better. Yeah, just better! If you’re starting to get into a rhythm, hopefully with some good habits, keep going! And if not… it's time to start 🤩 Let’s do this!
The membership gives you access to hundreds of drills, skills, and choreography videos for all levels. Each month I give you a few things to focus on to help guide your practice, but you can also move through the content as you wish. If you don’t have access already, you can get a membership at ThatNicoleFiore.com or on my YouTube Channel. Although both Memberships contain the same content, they are separate. With the Site Membership, everything is displayed on its own page and you can track your progress throughout each section! You can check out all of the drills here, skills here, and choreography here!
Drills, skills, choreography, and so much more!! This membership contains over 200 Tutorials with more added regularly. Drills are created to strengthen specific muscles for skating and skills are labeled by level to make learning accessible for all levels. Choreography is available in Beginner/ Intermediate as well as Advanced and can be done on or off skates!
Drill: Pressure into the Ground
First up: drills! We are actually going to be starting off skates for this drills video. In the membership, you have access to on-skate drills as well as off-skate drills. If you ever feel like you need to move your body but only have a few minutes, go to the drills!
We are going to work on our pressure into the ground. When we skate, we have to force pressure into the ground and too often this is something we forget about. We have to pretend like we’re digging into the ground in order to push, to edge, to do just about everything. We have to connect with the ground and send our energy down into it. So, we will be working on that! I recommend doing drills a few times a week and this drill is a great one to come back to again and again.

Skill: One-Foot Spin
Within the membership, you have access to hundreds of videos so you can pick and choose whatever you want to work on, but I give you at least one skill per month to focus on if you want some structure. Our skill this month is going to be our one-foot spin. A one-foot spin can be a bit tricky, but it doesn't need to be scary in any sense. This spin is on an inner back edge, so the technical name is the Inner Back Upright.
You will be using a lot of different muscles for this skill. If this is new to you, take it easy, step by step. I want you to work on the mechanics of the legs and start to press your edge. You may need to adjust the action of your skate. I talk about that in a lot of the edge videos within the membership if you need any help with that. Please ask me any questions you may have. I am here to help!

Choreography: Sunday Best
We are going to do choreography to ‘Sunday Best’ by Surfaces. Sunday Best is one of my feel-good songs. I literally have a playlist with that title and I find myself listening to it a lot during this time of year. The songs are a bit slower, calmer, and they just make me feel good. This choreography is a bit slower than my usual choreography, but it has a lot of skills within it. We will be working on our backward edges, dips, the dribble, and more. Always pick and choose what you want to do within the choreography - you can add or take anything out. I make these routines to help you practice in a fun way and enjoy your time on skates, so try to have as much fun with it as possible.
Like always, we have Beginner/ Intermediate and Advanced choreography. You can go directly from the beginner/ intermediate into the advanced to make a longer routine… or you can flip the choreography and do it all mirrored so you can practice both sides. I know we love and hate to do that, but it really is important to practice both sides of skills and this choreography is a fun way to do that!

Advanced video length: 31 minutes, 8 seconds [Link: Website, YouTube]
Workshops, Lessons & Progress:
We still have a few spots available for this month’s workshop on March 8th in Huntington Beach! We will be working on Pushing & Stretching: gaining momentum, maintaining momentum, holding balance on one leg while rolling, and so much more!
Make sure you send your progress to me throughout the month and especially throughout the year. I know that recording yourself can be a little scary, but I promise you that when you look back at your videos six months, a year, five years later, you are going to be amazed at how far you've come. All of the little things add up over time!
If you would like to submit your progress for our Community Progress Video, submit your vertical video here. Submissions are due on the last day of each month.
If you are practicing on Instagram, please tag me and #quadsociety! I love to see and share your progress! Lastly, don’t forget about the wonderful community on Discord. Everything is better with friends!
Please don’t hesitate to reach out and let me know if you would like more help. You can book in-person private lessons or online private lessons here!
