14 Years Together: Skating, Friendship, and Roller Jam

Roller Jam Season 1 is a must-watch! If you haven’t seen it yet, I highly recommend it. You can catch it on HBO Max or Magnolia Network. Roller skating has been on TV before, but never like this. It was the first competition roller skating show that focused solely on roller skating.

The roller skating world is a small, tight-knit community. As a skater, you likely know a few of the contestants or at least follow some of them on Instagram. Guess who one of those contestants is? One of my oldest students, Natalie Chen!

I started teaching Natalie 14 years ago when she was 8 years old! So much has changed in those 14 years, but our bond has remained. It’s been an absolute blast to see her grow as a skater and as a person. I’m so proud of everything she’s accomplished and everything she continues to do.

This is the first time we’ve ever sat down and filmed a chat between us, and we had so much to talk about! We chatted about our friendship, skating, and her experience on Roller Jam.
