Stormtroopers Skate Too!
So, this one may seem kind of random to some people…
or most people!
But indeed, I am a stormtrooper.
My husband, Taylor, LOVES Star Wars. I like it…but Taylor loves it! He had the opportunity to buy stormtrooper armor at an event a few years ago and went for it. The craziest/coolest thing about this is that you have to build the armor and put it all together. The kit comes in plastic pieces that aren’t even cut out. It’s a lot of work, but definitely worth it!
Let’s put it this way…I learned how to use a Dremel real quick!
After Taylor built his stormtrooper armor, he joined the 501st Legion and began doing charity events and meet ups. He “trooped” just about every weekend and met so many amazing people! I would go to these events/troops and help out. It looked like so much fun, so I finally caved! I told Taylor I wanted my own armor. He was elated!
Problem #1: I am 5 foot, 2 inches. This armor was initially made for grown men at about 5’9”. A lot of adjustments would need to be made. I picked up that Dremel and cut out all of the pieces in about one day.
I was covered in plastic!
I was so stoked when my armor was done. I may have been the shortest stormtrooper this side of the galaxy, but wow it was fun! I even got to perform with Weird Al. I’ll link the video right here…it’s pretty easy to see which one is me!
The armor is not very easy to move in. So, deciding that I wanted to try skating in it was met with some necessary hesitation. I started in the roller skating rink because I was terrified of hitting a pebble and breaking everything! This was pretty fun!
